OpenCore Legacy Patcher and macOS Sequoia

Sequoia is the newest macOS version covered in the current documentation used here. Read the model and hardware notes before attempting an install.

macOS Sequoia is the newest macOS version covered by the current OCLP documentation used here.

Current Sequoia status

The Sequoia page says OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.0.0 implemented early support for macOS Sequoia. It also warns that some challenges remain and users should read model-specific issues before installing.

  • Newly dropped hardware listed in the docs: MacBookAir8,1 and MacBookAir8,2.
  • T2-related problems mean the MacBookAir8,x models cannot be supported at the documented time.
  • iPhone Mirroring and Apple Intelligence are non-functional on most patched Macs due to hardware requirements.
OCLP 2.0.0 introduced early Sequoia support for many affected Macs.

Important Sequoia issues

T2 Security chip

MacBookAir8,x has T2 communication panics when booted through OpenCorePkg.

USB 1.1

For Penryn systems, pre-2013 Mac Pros, and Xserve, USB 1.1 support removal affects keyboard, trackpad, IR receivers, and Bluetooth.

Graphics patches

The Sequoia docs state that OCLP includes Legacy Metal and non-Metal patches, but model-specific issues still matter.

MetallibSupportPkg

Some Ivy Bridge, Haswell, and NVIDIA Kepler systems running Sequoia or newer may require this package during root patching.

What about macOS Tahoe?

Tahoe, macOS Tahoe, and macOS 26 are not covered as supported targets in the current documentation used here. Treat them as unconfirmed unless OCLP release notes announce support.

Do not assume future support

Always check release notes before installing a brand-new macOS version on an unsupported Mac.
